To All Our Twin Club Members!!
As many of you will know, the Twin Club was formed in 1980 and this year we are celebrating 30 years of support to families of Twins and Multiples in the Bournemouth area!
In order to celebrate this special occasion, we would really love for as many of our Member Families to take part in the Bournemouth Carnival, also a special year for Bournemouth, celebrating 200 years since Tregonwell founded the town ... So a double celebration!
The Carnival will take place on Sunday 8th August. We have had a large number of ‘Twin Club’ printed T Shirts made up, available for purchase for a minimal sum, around £2.50 each!
The theme for our Carnival participation would be Noah’s Ark and the animals going in two-by-two ... so we would like all the twins to come to the carnival with their faces painted or wearing a mask of the same animal ... whether it be two tigers, elephants, sheep, birds ... any animals would be fantastic and you, as parents, can choose if you prefer to paint your kids’ faces, or get them to make and colour them in, or you print something off the internet etc ... a good selection of animal designs would be simply fantastic! And naturally, all siblings MUST join in too!! The more the merrier !
So here’s the thing!! We have a goal that we would really like to at least achieve! As we are celebrating 30 years, we would really like to have at least 30 sets of twins joining us in the Parade ... wouldn’t it be fab!?! Please, please let’s make a real effort to support Bournemouth and our Club. Let’s show everyone how proud we are of all our kids and our Club! This will be a superb opportunity for great publicity for club, as local press will be there.
The day’s proceedings should run something like this:
1200 hrs – meet at East Overcliff Drive
1300 hrs – Judging of Walking Entries
1430 hrs – Carnival Processions moves off
1630 hrs – Carnival Procession finishes
The route is:
Along East Overcliff Drive, down Russell Cotes Rd, into Bath Rd, over to Westover Rd, through Gervis Place, across Old Christchurch Rd and into Yelverton Rd, over Richmond Hill and down St Stephen's Rd, left into Braidley Rd, left at the Town Hall into Bourne Avenue, round the bend and up Commercial Rd, turning left at the top into Terrace Rd and down passed the B.I.C and into the Pier Approach, where we will rest until 5pm.
We think that some families will want to bring buggies, as our smaller twins will probably get a bit tired after a few hours! We are also considering a people carrier-type vehicle following the procession, to assist with tired feet ... But remember that there will be so much going on, so many fun things around them, lots of people in fancy dress, balloons and sweets being given out etc etc, they will just love it!!
Can everyone who is interested in joining us on this fun day, please email me with your names, ages of children etc and confirm sizes of T Shirts that you would like. The sizes available are XL, L, M, S, plus aged T Shirts for kids ... I will do my best to accommodate as close to the age as possible, probably going for a size up from your kid’s age, just in case! Better that the T Shirt is to big than too small!!! If anyone needs an XXL, just let me know ...
We hope we can encourage a really good turn out, so please confirm your attendance asap. I will get your t-shirts to you and sort out details for the day’s proceedings. More information to follow ...
